I Love This Test For Kids

I’ve had some parent consults lately (I am seeing more and more autoimmune diseases in kids) and I thought I’d share one of the tests I love for kids.

Cyrex Labs has a mucosal immune reactivity screen, Array 14, which is a saliva test, so the kids don’t get poked for a blood draw.

Here’s the low-down on what’s tested:

  1. Leaky gut - and leaky gut with endotoxemia (sometimes intestinal permeability is severe)

  2. ASCA ANCA which is a marker for Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis to look for intestinal autoimmune reactivities.

  3. Calprotectin for intestinal inflammation and Transglutaminase-2 for celiac.

  4. There’s several markers for gluten sensitivity: alpha-gliadin, gamma-gliadin, glutenin.

  5. Wheat germ agglutinin which are the lectin portions of gluten.

  6. Gluteomorphin and casomorphin which are opioid proteins in gluten and milk - people that have this response will typically feel worse while going gluten and dairy free because it’s almost like an opioid withdrawal.

  7. Alpha and beta casein which are different milk proteins.

  8. Egg protein, soy protein, corn protein which are the most common food sensitivity reactions.

  9. Aflatoxins - a common mold species found in some foods - many foods found in stored bins.

  10. Chemicals - Bisphenol-A in plastics.

  11. Mercury and mixed heavy metals which is a combination of different heavy metals.

  12. Rotavirus because it’s known to trigger celiac

  13. Myelin basic protein which looks for antibodies against the nervous system, but this could just be against the gut nervous system.

  14. Blood brain barrier proteins which are the tight junction proteins of the brain, so it helps to identify leaky brain.

  15. General immune complexes and with these, you really want to start thinking about lectin food sensitivity.

There is just so much information from one vial of saliva and it’s so easy for the kids.

You order the test through my Labshop. Let me know how it goes.
